Project Title

Tracing Sindh’s Cultural Identity through Sufism: From Colonial to Post-Colonial Era

Description

Sindh has always been a hub of traditions, cultures, values, literature, and Sufism reputed to elements of mysticism, brotherhood, peace, harmony, etc. This paper is divided into two sections. The first two sub-sections discuss the role of Sufism in creating a primary identity marker of Sindh for Muslims and non-Muslims by producing material in the literary genre, influenced by different philosophical thoughts. The paper also entails information about the influence of politics on Sufism in Sindh during different forms of government, ranging from colonial to the post-colonial era of Ayub Khan, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Zia-ul-Haq, and many more
